Nothing says Christmas in my family like Charlie’s. It brings us back to the best summer family vacations, when the drive up to Charlie’s to pick out our fish (back when there was fish sausage and chubs!). We all have our favorites – whitefish, trout or salmon — but whatever is the preference, they ALL are phenomenal. It is, hands down, the best smoked fish in the country.

NYC has amazing food options, but it doesn’t have Charlie’s smoke house! I order the sampler a few times each year as a gift for my boyfriend (who’s difficult to buy for) and it’s a treat for both of us. Lately, the trout has been our favorite, with the Atlantic salmon a close second. I serve it with saffron rice or crackers with a mustard/mayo sauce; add a side salad and call it dinner. This is one of my boyfriend’s favorite food gifts. It always arrives on Wednesday or Thursday which makes it very easy to order online and the folks at Charlie’s couldn’t be nicer or more helpful:)

Our second time ordering the “sampler” and as the first, very nice! We double ordered this time and froze the other half to eat for a different holiday (but you shouldn’t wait wait for any holiday! Order and eat now!) We’re definitely repeat customers! Y’all won’t be disappointed!
